ECVCP-President's Message

The year 2021 is ending and - as 2020 - it was shadowed again by COVID-19. Despite the impact of the ongoing pandemic, our College was able to accomplish a lot.

By 1st January, 2021, Zoe Polizopoulou took over as President of EBSV. This is a great honour and success for her and for our College. It reflects her previous engagement in European veterinary education.

Thanks to a group of dedicated colleagues, we were able to hold on online meeting that was as close to an in-presence meeting as a virtual meeting can be. We all missed Bordeaux, but we didn't have to make any compromise concerning the congress programme and the quality of the lectures and discussions.

The summer school that was planned to take place in Lodi, Italy, was converted into a very successful online-summer school with a number of participants from overseas. The mock exam was done by ExamSoft as final rehearsal for the real exam.

We could not hold an exam in 2020, but where able to examine the Candidates from 2020 and 2021 by ExamSoft in November. Five Candidates passed the exam and I hope we will be able to give them their well-deserved diplomas at a live ceremony next year at the ESVCP/ECVCP congress in Belgrade. First things first - my and the Board's congrats to this great success under difficult circumstances.

Such as last year, the ECVCP Board could also donate this year two research funds for two selected projects to members of the college.

The 5-year report to EBVS (College Reaccredidation) was compiled with the great help of all Committee Chairs and Board Members and submitted it on time. Currently, it is under review, and I'm confident that it will be accepted with a few remarks and changes.

I'm very excited how much good we achieved with the help of so many and I want to thank all of you for all the hard work done within the Board and in the Committees.

I wish you a successful and healthy New Year and hope to see as many of you as possible again in person,

Ernst
